A Message From the AVP

Welcome to the College of Health and Public Services at Daytona State College. Within the college, the Schools of Nursing, Health Careers, Dental Sciences and Emergency Services provide a range of vocational, associate and baccalaureate programs. Our programs are led by highly qualified teams of faculty with practical experience in their respective fields. We are closely aligned with our community partners as they provide learning opportunities for students at their hospitals, nursing facilities, clinics, labs, and other patient care areas. Students receive hands-on training in these facilities with experts who hold specialized licensing and certification, as well as in our state-of-the-art patient simulation labs. Most of our programs hold external accreditation above and beyond our regional accrediting body and boast professional licensure passing rates that exceed national averages. I encourage you to contact our college for more information on the excellent programs and services that we provide. Remember... every minute, every day, a Daytona State College graduate is impacting the health and safety of our community. Come and see what the college can do for you.

Patient Simulation Learning Laboratory (PSLL)

Simulation is a vital part of education in health care careers. Simulation provides a solution for learning application of learned theory making learning both challenging and exciting. Simulation bridges the gap between the classroom and "real life" experiences. Learners are encouraged to explore this realistic environment, are challenged to make critical patient decisions, and witness the result of those decisions without risk to patient safety.

The main PSLL is located on the Daytona Beach campus in Health Sciences Hall in rooms 003-005C

Patient Simulation increases the learner's knowledge, teamwork, leadership, and critical thinking skills. Patient simulation allows learners an opportunity to practice skills tailored to learning needs.

Patient simulation is used throughout many of our health career programs in the laboratory, in the classroom, for tutoring, or as clinical supplementation. Patient simulation allows learners an opportunity to practice skills tailored to learning needs. Simulation coordinators work with course faculty to enhance learning outcomes at every level.
