Daytona State College to begin offering Bachelor of Science in Radiologic and Imaging Sciences degree in 2026
DAYTONA BEACH, FLA. (December 5, 2025) – Daytona State College will begin offering a fully-online Bachelor of Science in Radiologic and Imaging Sciences in 2026, pending approval by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. The program addresses the increasing demand for imaging professionals with management training and certification in advanced imaging modalities.
Daytona State already offers Associate of Science degrees in Radiography and Diagnostic Medical Sonography. The new program is designed for credentialed graduates of these programs. It is a baccalaureate completion program for working radiologic technologists, nuclear medicine technologists, radiation therapists and sonographers seeking to advance their careers and move into leadership roles.
“Working with our community and business partners, we have identified a pressing need for technologists with advanced skills and leadership training,” said Dr. Tom LoBasso, President of Daytona State. “Radiology leadership and clinical skills are unique and healthcare employers increasingly expect candidates for leadership roles to hold advanced degrees.”
The program, which positions graduates for roles as Imaging Department Managers and Advanced Technologists, anticipates admitting approximately 24 students a year.
The program offers concentrations in Leadership and Computed Tomography and can be completed in two years or less for most students. The leadership concentration is available entirely online. The Computed Tomography track is offered primarily online, along with in-person clinical training. Applicants must have already earned an Associate in Science or Associate in Applied Science degree in an imaging program from an institutional accreditor recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and possess the associated industry credential.
“The increased need for imaging professionals isn’t limited to Florida and our local healthcare partners are in strong support of the program,” said Dr. Colin Chesley, Associate Vice President of the College of Health & Public Services. “Our program will ensure a sustainable pipeline of talented professionals to meet that demand.”
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects a 6% growth rate for radiologic technologists
through 2033. FloridaCommerce projects job openings of 127 annually for imaging technologists
and related advanced practitioners over the next seven years.
The program will be eligible for federal financial aid and dedicated scholarships will be available.
