Do you want to teach, but your bachelor's degree isn't in education?

The Educator Preparation Institute (EPI) provides an alternative route for candidates already holding a four-year baccalaureate degree in a field other than education who are interested in becoming a highly qualified teacher in Florida.

In addition to becoming prepared to pass the Florida Teacher Certification Examinations (FTCE), candidates who successfully complete the EPI program will be eligible to receive their five-year Florida Professional Educator's Certificate. Depending on the certification area, they will also earn a Reading Endorsement.

Admission Requirements

  • Submit all official college baccalaureate transcripts
  • Master's transcript for GKT exemption
