DSC Spelling Bee Team Earns 6th Championship Title
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (June 11, 2019) - Daytona State College's Spelling Bee Team brought
home its 6th championship in the annual Volusia County Literacy Council's Annual Charity
Spelling Bee.
DSC students and faculty, led by team captain Frank Gunshanan, School of Humanities and Communication professor, competed against 19 teams which included Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Bethune-Cookman University, Kaiser University, The International Speedway Corporation, Halifax Health, Brown & Brown Insurance, FPL, Lourdes Academy, and Volusia United Educators, among others.
In the final round against Embry-Riddle, the team and team speaker, Augusta Thomas, prevailed with the word "contumacious."
