Whether you are looking to major in music or simply want to take part in a fulfilling elective, this program has quality courses and experienced faculty to help you achieve your goals. A wide-ranging curriculum includes music theory, music appreciation and applied music lessons on most instruments and voice.
You may choose to study wind, brass, and percussion and string instruments as part
of your general education elective credits. A professional instrumental music faculty,
drawn from some of the finest musicians in Central Florida, bring with them expertise
in symphonic, jazz and popular styles.
Diverse performance offerings include the College/Community Symphonic Band, Jazz Ensemble,
Orchestra, Steel Drum Ensemble and a host of rock and chamber ensembles. A well-rounded
choral/vocal program features ensembles and private instruction.
The Concert Choir performs a variety of concerts each year including the popular Yuletide
Feast and a major concert in collaboration with the college’s orchestra. The contemporary
Vocal Ensemble provides an excellent training ground for work on musical theater techniques.
Skills such as movement, character and dynamic singing are developed within the course.
