What did you do prior to joining Daytona State College? Prior to moving to Florida, I was an elementary school teacher. In Florida, I’ve worked for Seminole State College and Stewart Marchman.
One thing people are surprised to find out about me is: I decorate cakes for special occasions.
Last book read: "It Worked for Me, In Life and Leadership" by Colin Powell
What are you working on right now? Being a student development advisor and the secretary of the Professional Council certainly keeps me busy. In student development, I assist students with disabilities, do crisis Intervention, academic advising and also help students with career exploration. As the Professional Council secretary, I get to work on the Daytona State website and portal, something new for me, which I find very intriguing.
What has been the most rewarding thing about your Daytona State College experience? Seeing students from their very first visit to Daytona State, all quiet and shy, and watching them term by term as they blossom into professionals.
If they could bottle your personality what would the label read? Compassion
If you could have a dinner party and invite any four people, dead or alive, the guest list would be: Abraham Lincoln, Mother Teresa, Steve Jobs and Colin Powell
The Daytona State of Mind to me is: Students overcoming life’s obstacles and reaching their goals to graduate and have better lives.
