Harris Rosen

Speaker Series - November 17

2021 Fall Speaker Series with Harris Rosen, President & COO of Rosen Hotels & Resorts

A true All-American success story, iconic hotelier and philanthropist, Harris Rosen overcame humble beginnings growing up in the disadvantaged Bowery section of New York City to now owning seven expansive Orlando hotels that comprise approximately 5 percent of the tourism area’s total guestrooms.

A vivid storyteller, Rosen will share various success stories, including his first Orlando hotel purchase in 1974, and why he feels that his company enjoys one of the lowest employee turnover rates in the hospitality industry (around 12 percent vs. the industry average around 70 percent). And closest to his heart, his desire to inspire others to give back through his legacy of philanthropy, which includes a focus on education.

The L. Gale Lemerand Entrepreneurial Speaker Series Scholarship will be awarded to students interested in becoming entrepreneurs. Up to three $1,000 scholarships may be given, based on the following criteria:

  • One to a Volusia or Flagler County high school student who plans to attend DSC
  • One to a DSC college-credit student
  • One to a DSC Adult Education student

Deadline to apply: November 10, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. Late submissions will not be accepted.

Live stream begins November 17, 2021, at 9am
