Paying Forward Experience & Success: The L. Gale Lemerand Center for Entrepreneurship

The entrepreneurial spirit thrives at Daytona State College, thanks in part to an endowment by L. Gale Lemerand, one of the nation’s leading entrepreneurs and philanthropists.

Through the Center for Entrepreneurship that bears his name, a valuable resource is available, not only for Daytona State students seeking degrees in business and management, but also for anyone in our community who wants to learn what it takes to start a business from the ground up.

The Entrepreneurial Speaker Series

At heart of the Center for Entrepreneurship is the prestigious L. Gale Lemerand Entrepreneurial Speaker Series, which features advice and inspiration from some of the nation’s leading business owners. Established in 2007, Daytona State College hosts events twice a year to encourage principles of entrepreneurship and to inspire students to strive for success in their chosen career.

Mr. Lemerand maintains an active life guiding his various businesses and giving back to this community through his leadership and financial support for organizations.

Building Entrepreneurial Foundations

Daytona State College has always been a place where big dreams begin.

Many of our program graduates have ventured out to create successful businesses. They are restaurant owners, manufacturers, marketing CEOs, salon and franchise owners, a diverse group with one trait in common: the willingness to take the risks necessary to make their aspirations to own a business come to fruition.

Daytona State College offers a variety of innovative programs and courses that focus on experiential learning and help students develop an entrepreneurial vision. While not everyone will aim to be an entrepreneur, Daytona State provides our students the resources to become familiar with the role entrepreneurship plays in the economy and an awareness of the possibilities in starting their own business at some point in their careers.
