Calendar of events at Daytona State announced for July 2012

DAYTONA BEACH, FL (June 11, 2012) - Daytona State College presents the following calendar of events for July 2012.

MUSEUM HOURS: Closed Mondays; OPEN – Tues, Thurs, Fri: 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.  Wed: 11 a.m. - 7 p.m.  Weekends: 1 - 5 p.m. (June, July and December Hours: Tues-Sun: 12 - 4 p.m.)  CLOSED – Mondays and for the following dates: Daytona 500 Weekend, Daytona State College Spring Break, Easter Sunday, July 4, July 31 - August 17, and Thanksgiving Weekend.

MUSEUM LOCATION: Unless noted otherwise, all museum exhibitions, events and films are presented at the Daytona State College Southeast Museum of Photography which is located on the Daytona Beach Campus of Daytona State College at 1200 International Speedway Blvd, three miles east of 1-95. The museum is located in the Hosseini Center (#1200). Visitor parking is available. Admission & Events are free. THESIS EXHIBITION: UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL FLORIDA PHOTOGRAPHY MAJORS
The Daytona State College Southeast Museum of Photography is proud to announce the inaugural UCF Thesis exhibition featuring portfolios of recent work by graduating seniors in the University of Central Florida Photography program. Free admission.

Departures VII
A juried student exhibition, Departures VII highlights photography by graduates of the Daytona State College photography programs. This is the seventh year that the Daytona State College Southeast Museum of Photography has had the honor of showcasing the work of these graduates and it will continue to be a yearly summer event at the museum. For more than 40 years, Daytona State College graduates have taken their place among the nation’s leading photographers. The programs have grown into the largest, most comprehensive commercial photography programs in the southeastern US. The challenges of a rapidly changing aesthetic and commercial environment have been met by dynamic programs that stress the fundamental aspects of photography, the highest level of technical
proficiency and professional judgment; and give an understanding of the techniques, materials and equipment used in the profession today. Free admission.

FACULTY FOCUS 2012: Steven Benson
FACULTY FOCUS exhibitions present photographic works from faculty of the photography studies programs at Daytona State College. This exhibition series is presented each year as part of the summer exhibition schedule of the Daytona State College Southeast Museum of Photography.
ALUMNI FOCUS 2012: Christian Weber
ALUMNI FOCUS is an exhibition of photographic works from alumni of the photography studies programs of Daytona State College and the University of Central Florida (Daytona Beach) that is presented each year as part of the summer exhibition schedule of the Daytona State College Southeast Museum of Photography.
 Free admission.

DIGITAL PHOTO ACADEMY 2012 - For Teens with a serious interest in the photographic arts
Geared toward teens with a serious interest in photography, this provides a “college campus connection” and allows access to state-of-the-art equipment. Begin to gradually build a portfolio, and learn more about career possibilities within the photographic industry. ACADEMY FEE: $360.
