Homecoming 2019
It's time to revel in the Falcon spirit as Daytona State alumni, friends and students flock to the Daytona Beach Campus this October for the college's Homecoming 2019 festivities. This year's homecoming - Oct. 10-12 - features a series of events to celebrate Falcon Pride throughout our community, including the Mr. & Ms. Daytona State College Pageant, alumni awards recognition, 5K walk/run, Car & Truck Show, Tailgate Party and athletic home games. Throughout that week everyone is encouraged to show their Falcon Pride by wearing their DBJC, DBCC and DSC apparel. Be sure to tag your photos and share on social media with #DSCHC2019, #Falcon4Life.

DSC Speaker Series
Moderated by WNDB's Marc Bernier. Free and open to the public. Doors open at 6 p.m.
Katie DiGirolomo is a Daytona State College alumna and current member of the Fischler Academy, an elite teacher preparation program at Nova Southeastern University where she is double majoring in Marine Biology and Secondary Biology Education. She has returned to Daytona State's Oceanography Lab to conduct research for the development of antibiotics that will help prevent bacterial infections in shark bite victims.
Dr. Debra Woodall is senior professor in the Daytona State College School of Biological and Physical Science. She has been instrumental in the development of the Institute of Marine and Environmental Studies (IMES) at DSC, as well as the Environmental Science Technology program. Dr. Woodall earned her BS in Geology from Louisiana Tech University, her MS in Oceanography from LSU, and Ph.D. in Oceanography from Florida Institute of Technology.
Chad Macfie is manager of the Marine Science Center in Ponce Inlet, which serves as a sea turtle and seabird rehabilitation facility, and environmental learning center to improve the public's understanding of Volusia County's marine environments. Chad graduated from UCF with a BS in Biological Sciences and earned his Master's in Public Administration from Nova Southeastern University.

Animal Control Officer Certification Course
The School of Emergency Services at Daytona State College announces a 40-hour certification course for people who love animals and want to become animal control officers.The course, approved by the Florida Animal Control Association, emphasizes protection, care and humane law enforcement, and promotes the peaceful co-existence between animals and Florida residents. The course fee is $475 and includes all class materials and books, as well as a state licensing examination fee.

Massage Therapy Student Clinic
Open to the public, the Daytona State College Massage Therapy Student Clinic provides a 50-minute wellness massage under faculty supervision. Students receive valuable hands-on experience while clients enjoy the benefits of therapeutic massage. Clients will need to provide 2 twin sheets (1 fitted and 1 flat), 1 pillowcase, 1 large beach towel or $5 fee for disposable linens. COST: $21, cash or check made payable to: Daytona State College. The clinic continues each Thursday, Nov. 7, 14, 21 and Dec. 5.
