Wisdom In Senior Education: DBIA History and its Future
Wisdom In Senior Education (W.I.S.E.) is a program offered by the Daytona State College Foundation to promote and share the academic college resources with our senior community, providing learning opportunities in an enjoyable format. Hear about the history of Daytona Beach International Airport, its economic impact on the community, the importance of FAA/FDOT grant funding, ownership and staff organization, JetBlue's service commencement early next year, as well as current and upcoming projects on and around the airport. The Edge Effect
Formed in the summer of 2012, The Edge Effect is a powerhouse quintet of All-Star vocalists who have come together to create a new and exciting sound. The five members have shared stages with the likes of Tony Bennet, Stevie Wonder, Prince and David Foster, and have performed all over the world from Las Vegas to Carnegie Hall. Their stage show, "Come Together," is an a capella tour-de-force showcasing the best in harmony vocal music from past to present. From unique takes on rock classics by The Beatles and Blood Sweat & Tears, to current pop hits by Bruno Mars and Pharrell Williams, jazzy interpretations of Nina Simone and Louis Armstrong, the drama of Leonard Cohen as well as some guilty pleasures, their performance showcases the pure talent and power of the human voice. The first of a series of planned concerts by The Edge Effect at DSC's News-Journal Center, proceeds will benefit student scholarships via the Daytona State College Foundation.
Free to Daytona State College and Volusia and Flagler county students, all others $8 per person or $15 for two.

Wisdom In Senior Education: The Art of the Highwaymen
Wisdom In Senior Education (W.I.S.E.) is a program offered by the Daytona State College Foundation to promote and share the academic college resources with our senior community, providing learning opportunities in an enjoyable format. A native of the Indian River Lagoon section of Cocoa Beach, Lewis became an artist after a sports injury led him to enroll in art classes, where he discovered his talents. The Highwaymen sold their artwork to banks and small businesses, and the biggest misnomer was that the artwork was sold on roadsides. Presenter: R. L. Lewis.

During his Amazon-5000 expedition, Mickey traversed South America on foot, from coast-tocoast and through the perilous Amazon - all to beat
cancer. By succeeding where legendary Spanish conquistador Francisco de Orellana failed roughly 500 years ago, he is on a life mission to show
others that seemingly impossible battles always can be won! Presenter: Mickey Grosman.
