Gotsch Will Join Falcons in 2016

October 8, 2015

The Lady Falcons are proud to announce the recent commitment of Emylee Gotsch.  Gotsch will be transferring to the Falcons after an impressive season of play with Limestone College.

In high school, Gotsch was a highly recognized volleyball player in Volusia County.  This exceptional athlete and player led the Bulldogs of DeLand High School both offensively and defensively.  Her senior season, she aided the Bulldogs to a FHSAA Regional Championship and a berth in the Florida State Tournament.  She recorded a career best 230 kills, 257 digs, adding 58 aces.

Additionally, Gotsch advanced her skills under Coach Blake Rawlins’s direction at Top Select.

After graduating from DeLand High School, Gotsch continued launched her collegiate play at Limestone College.  As a freshman she began racking up the accolades.  She was honored as Conference Carolinas Player of the Week multiple times, playing in all 29 matches her freshman year, participating in 28 of these matches as a starter.

In 2012 Gotsch’s impressive freshman year campaign included her combining offensively and defensively for 3.12 kills per set and 1.94 digs per set.  She notched 20 double-digit kill performances and recorded 5 double-doubles.  Key performances for Gotsch included a career-high 22 kills at Erskine, a 19 kill performance with then career-best 15 digs and three blocks against Barton, and a 10 kill outing and career-high 16 digs at Pfeiffer.  Gotsch delivered seven straight matches of double-figure kills during a two week span in September her freshman season, totaling 94 in that span for an average of 3.48 per set.

“Gotsch is joining the Falcons at the right time.  We are graduating a strong outside hitter in Alica Kandler, and have big shoes to fill.  I am hopeful that Gotsch will be able to step in and contribute to the program on a big level,” commented Coach Stegall on Gotsch’s recent commitment. “Gotsch is one of those fun players to watch.  She is extremely athletic and has a high volleyball IQ.  She will bring experience and depth to the Falcon roster in 2016.  We are extremely excited to welcome her to the family.”

Gotsch is equally excited to be back on the court after a short hiatus from collegiate volleyball.  She has the opportunity to play in front of her hometown friends and family.
