  • DSC employee since 2006

Degrees and schools where awarded: Associate of Arts, Daytona Beach Community College (High Honors); Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies (Summa Cum Laude) and Master of Arts in Career and Technical Education, University of Central Florida (August 2014, 4.0 Graduate).

Outside interests: Writing poetry/spoken word, music, TV/movies, cooking, arts & crafts and spending time with family.

What did you do prior to joining Daytona State College? I worked as a cashier at Family Dollar. I have come a long way!

What professional projects are you working on right now? I work with the TRiO Student Support Services program and I am in the process of developing an online course for our students. This course will feature program information, interactive workshops and important updates!

What has been the most rewarding thing about your Daytona State College experience? Being able to grow as a professional and help students. I started as a work study and have been blessed to work with people who believe in me and support my growth. As a result, I have been able to guide and encourage students.

What is one goal you still hope to achieve in your career? I can’t name just one. I want to teach student success online and/or work as an instructional designer. I am also highly creative and would love to start a business selling some of my crafts and designs.

In life? I want to publish a book with my poetry and short stories, reach my potential and get married.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever gotten? Isalene Montgomery once told me that people may doubt what you say, but they will believe what you do. This advice always plays in my mind whenever I have doubt.

One thing people are surprised to find out about me is: So many things…I was born in New Mexico and I’m left handed (where my lefties at?)

Last book read: A Whole New Mind: Why Right-Brainers Will Rule the Future by Daniel Pink

If they could bottle your personality what would the label read? 100% Goodness, No Artificial Preservatives

Who are the four people in the history of the world you most admire? Jesus Christ, Maya Angelou, Oprah Winfrey, and Tyra Banks!

The Daytona State of Mind to me means serving all students with compassion, awareness, integrity, and a smile.
