Career/Professional honors: Business Associate of the Year 2008, American Business Women’s Association, New Smyrna Beach Chapter; Graduate of Leadership 2000, Southeast Volusia Chamber of Commerce; Graduate Leadership VI (2009), Ormond Beach Chamber of Commerce.
Outside interests: I am an active community volunteer. I’m also a crafter, knitting, crocheting, sewing, scrapbooking, jewelry making. There is probably not a charity I wouldn’t volunteer for or a craft I wouldn’t try!
What did you do prior to joining Daytona State College? My career has been in not-for-profits: Act Corp., Atlantic Center for the Arts and Ormond Beach Chamber of Commerce. I have been able to experience many aspects of not-for-profit operations, from entry-level to mid-management to directorship.
What professional projects are you working on right now? I am currently participating in Daytona State College’s Leadership Development Institute (LDI I).
What has been the most rewarding thing about your Daytona State College experience? The students, their enthusiasm, dedication, perseverance and success. They are very inspiring and they are our future.
What is one goal you still hope to achieve in your career? A master’s degree. I am currently enrolled at UCF in the Master of Non-Profit Management program.
In life? To be a good wife, mother, stepmother, grandmother, aunt, sister, daughter and friend.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever gotten? Don’t look back, always look forward. But the past is what has led me to where I am now, so I do reflect quite often.
One thing people are surprised to find out about me is: I am a Florida native, more specifically a conch, born in Key West.
Last book read:The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. Yeah, it’s a grandmother thing!
