2019 Homecoming

#DSCHC2019 Highlights

The 3-day extravaganza featured the 4th annual Mr. & Ms. DSC pageant, Alumni Awards, Movie Night, 5K Family Fun Walk/Run, Car & Truck Show, Tailgate Party & Cookout, Mascot Challenge, plus alumni athletic games for softball and baseball, and home women's and men's soccer games. Mr. & Ms. DSC 2019

Falcon spirit dominated the 4th annual Mr. & Ms. DSC pageant where six contestants entertained a capacity crowd in the L. Gale Lemerand Student Center. Ultimately, JJ Finn was crowned Mr. DSC 2019 and Jasmine Robinson was crowned Ms. DSC 2019. Other contestants included Eben Follman, Zoey Gurvich, Natalia Markham, and Halley Rowdon.

Alumni Awards 2019

Daytona State College recognized the professional accomplishments and community achievements of four graduates on Oct. 11 during the Alumni & Friends Association's annual awards breakfast held in the Conference Center on the Daytona Beach Campus.

Movie Night & S'mores

The new L. Gale Lemerand Student Center made the perfect backdrop for an outside viewing of 'Ratatouille' the animated comedy produced by Pixar and released by Walt Disney Pictures. The free event was enjoyed by current students and returning alumni where they were served pizza, toasted marshmallows over camp fires to make s'mores, plus exciting games of wiffle ball.

5k Family Fun Walk/Run

Coordinated by the College's Administrative Council, the event was made possible with community support from sponsors like Dunkin' Donuts, Follett, Hawkeye Brothers, McK's Tavern and Brewery, Sara Kohen Dean D.M.D. Cosmetic, Implant and Family Dentistry, The Standard Chiropractic, Greater Fitness and Financial Educators Federal Credit Union, plus an anonymous donor who's part of the Wisdom in Senior Education (WISE) program stepped up to support this anchor event.

Car & Truck Show

Sponsored by Daytona's Garage, the 4th annual Car & Truck Show featured more than 130 entries with trophies being awarded to Best Original Car, Best Modified Car, Best Original Truck and Best Modified Truck, Best Corvette, Best Mustang, Best Mopar, Most Unique in memory of Linda Vought and President's Choice which was won by Renee Hanson with her '64 Plymouth Barracuda. Music and announcements provided by DJ Frank Roberts.

Tailgate Party & Cookout

This family-friendly event provided lots of activities for kids including face painting by students and faculty from the School of Cosmetology, as well as rock-wall, bounce-house and DJ. Current students, returning alumni and other visitors enjoyed a sun-soaked afternoon with a fiercely contested cornhole tournament, pumper pull with the assistance of the City of New Smyrna Beach Fire Department, a Mascot Challenge where Brown & Brown's Cheetah took home bragging rights, plus VIP refreshments provided by students in the Hosseini College of Hospitality & Culinary Management as well as burgers, hotdogs and all the fixins'.
