The Faces of Commencement
Opening with the traditional bearer of the mace, Daytona State College celebrated nearly 3,900 students during its 52nd annual commencement ceremonies on May 14, 2012. To the cheers of thousands of family members and friends, new graduates crossed the stage, shaking the hands of President Carol Eaton and college board members.
Earning academic degrees and certificates, the graduates ranged in age from 16 to 68 and included 344 with high honors (gold stoles) and 1,649 with honors (white stoles). President Eaton also noted that 13 Falcons this spring were named to Who’s Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges and 14 students were inducted into the Daytona State College Hall of Fame, the highest honor that faculty can bestow upon a student.
Adult Education Graduation
Daytona State College congratulated 1,077 new recipients of high school or GED® diplomas at the annual Adult Education Graduation held in to the L. Gale Lemerand Center on May 15, 2012. The ceremony drew a capacity crowd of well-wishers to share the proud moment, long-awaited by many who overcame personal obstacles to reach this goal.
