Women's Volleyball - Daytona State Volleyball Defeats #10 Miami-Dade
Daytona State Volleyball accomplished another program milestone as they defeated Miami Dade College at home Saturday. The Falcons won in a tight five set match against the nationally ranked Sharks. Coming into the match the Sharks were
ranked tenth in the nation. This program steep in tradition boasts a roster of talented players. Prior to Saturday's match, the Lady Falcons have battled other NJCAA top 20 opponents, State College of Florida and College of Central Florida, in five set matches but had failed to claim a big victory. After going 1-1 on Friday in two tough matches, Palm Beach State and Hillsborough Community College, the Falcons were focused on bouncing back. That rebound came with a victory over the Sharks of Miami Dade College, 25,-20, 24-26, 25-23, 25-27, and 15-11.
The Falcons were led by two offensive leaders in freshmen, Halle Dotson and Joely Cabrera. Cabrera led the Falcons with a personal best, 29 kills. Dotson added 17 kills for Daytona State. Defensively, the Falcons were led by Kiara Colson with 26 digs against one of the most high powered offenses the Falcons have faced thus far.
The Falcons are back in action at home, Thursday night at 7pm as they take on a tough Mid-Florida Conference opponent, Florida State College at Jacksonville.
