Career/Professional honors: 1997 - Traveled with student production of Your’s Anne to Murfreesboro, Tenn., representing the college at the Region 4 Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival. We recently resumed participation in the festival by hosting, and I have twice been awarded an Excellence in Design for shows at Daytona State College. I’ve also completed LDI I, II and III.
Outside interests: Reading, mountain hiking, swimming, camping, kayaking & snow skiing when I can get up to North Carolina or out West.
What did you do prior to joining Daytona State College? I worked for Lyric Theatre at Oklahoma City University before moving to Florida. I then managed a small motel on the beach for 10 years. Later, I sold kitchen gadgets at the flea market and bartended while a student at DBCC. Quite an eclectic resume!
Most rewarding thing about your Daytona State College experience: Working with truly talented and creative people. I continue to learn every day.
What is one goal you still hope to achieve in your career? I’d love to share the theatre conference experience with our students again. It is a real “door opener” for them in regards to university attendance, summer jobs and career choices.
One thing people are surprised to find out about me is: Not a lot of surprises. I’m a pretty open book.
Last book read: John Irving’s In One Person
If they could bottle your personality what would the label read? Look out! Going to have some fun!
If you could have a dinner party and invite any four people, dead or alive, the guest list would be: I’d have to have a place setting for 7. I would love to dine with my deceased parents & grandparents again. They were so instrumental in whom I have become.
The Daytona State of Mind to me means student centered; learning by doing; realize your goals and dreams.
