What did you do prior to joining Daytona State College: I worked as a senior engineer at General Motors Research Laboratories (Michigan), working on intelligent vehicle highway systems, electronic steering and braking systems, and concept car design. I also worked as a senior engineering psychologist for General Dynamics – Trident submarine systems - and as a freelance GPS engineer for Trimble Electronics, Ashtech/Magellan GPS and General Motors (OnStar project development).
What projects are you working on now? Currently, I am working on the development of an automated/computerized assessment process for courses in the Behavioral and Social Sciences Department. This should help with the generation and maintenance of accurate assessment data that will likely prove to be helpful for SACS purposes.
My most rewarding Daytona State College experiences have been the opportunities that I’ve had to observe the passion and growth in many of my students over the years, and the realization that I was a small part of that. It is rewarding beyond description for instructors to hear that they had a significant positive influence on their students.
One goal I still hope to achieve in my career is to have my Cognitive Resource Availability Model of Human Learning widely accepted within my profession.
One thing people are surprised to find out about me is: I am a great cook!
Last book read: "Cross Fire" by James Patterson
If they could bottle your personality what would the label read? CAUTION: Do not use near fire, flame, or sparks.
If you could have a dinner party and invite any four people, dead or alive, the guest list would be: John Moses Browning, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Norman Schwarzkopf, Nikola Tesla
The Daytona State of Mind to me is an institution that is limited only by our imagination.
