DAYTONA BEACH, FL (June 14, 2010) – The Red Green Show is just one of many popular programs aired over the years by WDSC-TV 15. Local fans will get the opportunity to meet Red, played by Steve Smith, when The Wit & Wisdom Tour makes a stop in Daytona Beach next year.
"The Red Green Show has a terrific following on PBS,” commented WDSC’s General Manager, Bruce Dunn. “Red’s unique brand of humor has already been enjoyed by capacity crowds in cities such as Boise, Milwaukee and Tacoma, and I know that many of our members would love to buy tickets."
The Wit & Wisdom Tour is scheduled to make its Daytona Beach stop on January 22, 2011, at the News-Journal Center, located at 221 N. Beach Street, Daytona Beach. PURCHASE TICKETS
The Red Green Show first aired in 1991 and after 300 episodes the finale aired April 2006. The title character, Red Green (Steve Smith), is a Canadian handyman who generally tries to find shortcuts to most of his projects, trusting the vast majority of his work to duct tape (which he calls "the handyman's secret weapon" and the "universal adapter"). He is the president of the Possum Lodge, a fictional men's club in the small northwestern Ontario town of Possum Lake, near the also-fictional town of Port Asbestos. He and his fellow lodge members had their own TV show in which they gave humorous lessons and demonstrations in repair work and outdoor activities and advice for men on relating to women, among other things.
Mark your calendars now for Sunday, November 14 when WDSC will feature an interview with Red as part of the station’s pledge programming.
