DAYTONA BEACH, FL (May 20, 2010) - On Saturday, May 22, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Daytona International Speedway will be the host track for the 2010 FastTrack RC (FTRC) National Finals. The FTRC program challenges students in grades six through 12 to race their 1:10 scale race cars, just like professional race teams. Students learn the importance of teamwork while integrating lessons in science, technology, engineering and math. The top teams from throughout the country qualified for the national finals by earning points during competitions between October and May.
This is the first time the competition has been held at Daytona International Speedway. The event is sponsored by Ten80 Education along with Daytona State College, Daytona State College Foundation, The Florida High Tech Corridor Council, Motorsports Daytona Beach, The City of Daytona Beach, Daytona International Speedway, Bank of America, The NASCAR Foundation, and DS SolidWorks.
Admission is free and open to the public. Activities from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Garage Zone located in the infield – entrance via the Turn 4 Tunnel at W. International Speedway Blvd. Volunteers are welcome and needed to work ‘in the pits’ from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
