Feuding families lead to tragic deaths, nightly performances begin Nov. 10 

DAYTONA BEACH, FL (Oct. 23, 2009) – Daytona State College’s School of Music, Entertainment and Art presents: "Romeo and Juliet", one of Shakespeare's most poignant tragedies, with the title now being synonymous with "star-crossed lovers". Romeo and Juliet become involved in a passionate and hasty love affair, and are forced to keep their love hidden from their respective families. This leads to the deaths of both characters and the tragic aspect of the play as the Montagues and Capulets decide, too late, to put their feud behind them.
 
Nightly performances in the J. M. Goddard Center (bldg. 230) begin Tuesday, Nov. 10 at 7:30 p.m. and continue through Saturday, Nov. 14, as well as Friday, Nov. 20 and Saturday, Nov. 21. Matinee performances also are scheduled for  Sunday, Nov. 15 and Sunday, Nov. 22 at 2 p.m.
 
Admission is free to Daytona State College and Volusia County students, all others $8 per person or $15 for two. Tickets are available in advance at the Daytona State Box Office located in the Theater Center (bldg. 220) on the Daytona Beach Campus at 1200 W. International Speedway Blvd. Box Office Hours: Wednesday - Friday, 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Contact the Daytona State College Box Office by calling (386) 506-3042.
 
Tickets also will be sold the day of each performance at the Box Office, which opens one-hour prior to performance.
 
The J. M. Goddard Center (bldg. 230) is located on the Daytona Beach Campus at 1200 W. International Speedway Boulevard.
 
The performing arts programs at Daytona State prepare students for a future in music, drama and dance while also providing entertainment opportunities for the community through a variety of events produced each semester. Proceeds from tickets are used to support the Performing Arts Scholarship program at Daytona State.
