DAYTONA BEACH, FL (June 3, 2010) – Since 2004, Nova Southeastern University has been a partner with Daytona State College in its University Center. With similar partnerships forged with the Florida College System, a scholarship program to benefit members of the Florida Associate of Community Colleges pursuing master’s or doctoral programs came at just the right time for one employee at Daytona State.
Clarence F. McCloud, Jr, received the call last week from NSU’s Fischler School of Education and Human Services.
“I had applied for the FACC/NOVA scholarship earlier this year and knew that the competition would be fierce,” commented McCloud. “I was totally taken by surprise at the news but feel truly honored that I’ve been selected. I’m looking forward to a career in leadership and human services. Daytona State, FACC and NSU have provided me with an opportunity to receive a quality education, at the graduate level I was seeking. I’m on track to complete the master’s program later this year and then plan to continue my doctoral studies at NSU’s Fischler School of Education and Human Services.”
McCloud is a coordinator for Daytona State’s School of Adult Education and has been with the College since 1996.
NSU’s Fischler School of Education and Human Services sponsors two scholarships a year to FACC members. One scholarship is awarded in the Doctor of Education program and the other in a master’s program.
FACC is supported through institutional dues and by more than 9,000 individual college employees and retirees through individual memberships and the sharing of their talents, time and energy. Daytona State boasts more than 300 members – for more information about their activities and community involvement visit www.DaytonaState.edu/FACC
