Dive coach recruits athletes and promotes diving on campus

DAYTONA BEACH, FL (June 3, 2010) – Having signed on as coach for both the Men’s and Women’s Diving teams, Kerri Lightfoot brings experience, enthusiasm and a commitment to develop a diving program that builds skills, character, confidence and dreams.
 
With more than 14 years competitive experience, Lightfoot remains passionate about the sport. Receiving a diving scholarship to the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, Lightfoot received her Bachelor of Arts degree, with a major in psychology and a minor in speech communication. Her diving accomplishments include "Diver Of The Year" in the Arkansas Swimming Hall of Fame and NAIA All-American.

“The diving program at Daytona State is a great opportunity for students to realize their potential,” states Lightfoot. “We’re currently seeking students who have some experience in diving, gymnastics, dance or other sports and would like learn this fun and fascinating sport.”
 
In addition to the college diving program, participation is also sought in the College/Adult Diving program that’s offered on Tuesdays from 4 to 5:30 p.m. (additional clinics are available on Monday and Wednesday as part of the age-group program) in the L. Gale Lemerand Center (bldg. 310) located on the College’s Daytona Beach Campus at 1200 W. International Speedway Blvd. The fee for this program is $30 per month and participants are required to join USA Diving – join online at www.usadiving.org

Daytona State College is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association and the Florida Community College Athletics Association Mid-Florida Conference. The Falcons currently compete in seven Division I NJCAA sports including Men's and Women's Basketball, Baseball, Fast-Pitch Softball, Women's Golf and Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving. The main focus of the Daytona State Falcons athletic program is to prepare student-athletes for success in life. This is accomplished through strong academic programs and support services coupled with quality coaching and athletic facilities.
