DAYTONA BEACH, FL (Oct. 19, 2009) – The 18th annual Cultural Festival, scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 4, highlights the diverse student population at Daytona State College with performances from Tropicante (Latin music), Kim Hardiman (Chinese dance), and the Daytona State College Steel Drum Ensemble.
Presented by Daytona State’s Student Activities Department, the annual event features music, dance and food from around the world. With more than 80 international students
from countries including Brazil, Egypt, England, Ghana, and Japan, the festival is an opportunity for students to display artifacts from their countries and share cultural traditions.
The festival will take place in the ECHO Plaza that was funded in part by the Volusia County ECHO – Environmental/Ecological, Cultural, Historic/Heritage, Outdoor – Grants-in-Aid program. The plaza has quickly become a focal point on the Daytona Beach Campus, with students congregating for impromptu meetings and even improvised performances.
The event is free and open students from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and to the general public from 1 to 2 p.m.
The Daytona Beach Campus is located at 1200 W. Int’l Speedway Blvd.
