DAYTONA BEACH, FL (Oct. 19, 2009) – Falcon Athletics at Daytona State College announces an inter-squad scrimmage game that introduces the team to the college students, staff and community. The “Blue and White” basketball game will be held Friday, Oct. 23 starting at 6 p.m. in the L. Gale Lemerand Center (bldg. 310) located on the Daytona Beach Campus at 1200 W. International Speedway Blvd. Admission is free and open to the public.
In recognition of National Disability Employment Awareness Month, the men’s and women’s basketball teams will honor Doug and Nancy Hall from “Friends of Library Access, Inc.” - that funds projects such as the Braille and Talking Book Library benefitting students with disabilities at Daytona State.
“The evening features special guests, as well as a three-point shooting competition, and we look forward to a seeing bleachers filled with Falcon fans,” stated Cal Cochran, head coach for the Lady Falcons.
Lady Falcons tip-off at 6 p.m. followed by special guests at 6:30 p.m. The three-point-shooting competition is slated to start at 7 p.m. and the evening rounds out with the Falcons game at 7:15 p.m. Join us for a fun fundraising event - proceeds and donations to Friends of Library Access, Inc.
Daytona State is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association and the Florida Community College Athletics Association Mid-Florida Conference. The Falcons compete in five Division I NJCAA sports including Men's and Women's Basketball, Baseball, Fast-Pitch Softball, Women's Golf, and Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving. The main focus of the Daytona State Falcons athletic program is to prepare student-athletes for success in life. This is accomplished through strong academic programs and support services coupled with quality coaching and athletic facilities.
