All Shook Up
Elvis is in the building…a musical comedy based on Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night” and built around more than 20 Elvis Presley hits including “Blue Suede Shoes,” “Heartbreak Hotel,” “A Little Less Conversation,” “Love Me Tender,” and “Jailhouse Rock.” From the book by Tony Award winner Joe DiPietro, the story takes place in 1955, where a small, depressed town gets a visit from a mysterious leather-jacketed, guitar-playing roustabout who helps them discover the magic of romance and the power of rock ‘n roll. Free to Daytona State College and Volusia and Flagler county students, all others $8 per person or $15 for two.

Dash Around the Table Tour
Under the direction of PARADE editor Maggie Murphy, Dash aims to help its readers prepare simple, fast, and delicious meals every day. The magazine blends original content with some of the most popular features from four of America’s most trusted food sources: Bon Appétit, Epicurious.com, Gourmet, and PARADE. Dash is distributed in more than 130 newspapers with a circulation of 8.5 million.  Check out more great tips and recipes online at www.dashrecipes.com, and look for Dash every month in your local newspaper. The centerpiece of the event is the two-hour, interactive “Making Mealtimes Matter Show” presented by Liverpool-born chef Ashton, offering cooking demonstrations and tips. “The Dash Around the Table Tour brings the hallmarks of Dash—simple, fast, and delicious meals—to life,” says PARADE editorial director Maggie Murphy. “Jon’s show will offer smart shopping tips, great shortcuts, and yummy meals that will delight busy families. But the secret ingredient here is Jon: He’s the home ec teacher you always wished you had.”
“I love to cook with a smile,” says chef Jon Ashton. “The Dash Around the Table Tour is equal parts laughter and fun.”
The accompanying Food Village Expo features local chefs, regional specialties, entertainment, retailers, artisans, and other area businesses. Highlights will be Costa Magoulas the Dean of the School of Hospitality at Daytona State will cook live on stage before Jon Ashton. The Junior League of Daytona Beach will have a used book sale and there will be music playing during the expo. Wisdom In Senior Education (W.I.S.E.) is a program offered by the Daytona State College Foundation to promote and share the academic college resources with our senior community, providing learning opportunities in an enjoyable format. Dr. Kramer’s presentation is about memory. He currently is an adjunct professor at Daytona State College, as well as a lecturer and licensed psychologist. Free to WISE members.

Wisdom In Senior Education (W.I.S.E.) is a program offered by the Daytona State College Foundation to promote and share the academic college resources with our senior community, providing learning opportunities in an enjoyable format. Julie Shaw will discuss the training of service dogs at Disability Solutions for Independent Living for people with either developmental or physical disabilities. Free to WISE members.

An evening best described as a musical sampler platter of some of our instrumental ensembles. The show will feature the community symphonic band and jazz ensemble as well as some of our other instrumental groups. Wisdom In Senior Education (W.I.S.E.) is a program offered by the Daytona State College Foundation to promote and share the academic college resources with our senior community, providing learning opportunities in an enjoyable format. Vern Weidner is on a crusade to give credit where credit is due to Benjamin Franklin. Portraying Franklin, Vern narrates his interesting life as a statesman, inventor, scientist, writer and contributor to society. Free to WISE members.
