Professional Tutor
TRiO Educational Talent Search

Daytona State College is seeking a Professional Tutor with the ability to tutor in the core high school subjects and SAT/ACT preparation for our TRiO Educational Talent Search program. This position is available through Lyneer Staffing Solutions. Applicants who are hired will not be employees of Daytona State College.
Minimum Qualifications: This position requires an Associates' degree with an emphasis on either Mathematics, Language Arts, and/or Science. One (1) year teaching, graduate internship, or related experience in tutoring in one of the respective subjects is preferred. Experience working at the postsecondary level is desired.

Responsibilities: The successful candidates will provide academic assistance to current middle and high school students enrolled in the TRiO Educational Talent Search program. This position requires travel to designated tutoring locations.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: The successful candidate must be able to relate to and work with middle and high school students individually and/or in small groups, exercise good judgment, and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. He or she will exercise strong organizational skills, exhibit an eagerness to learn and be of service, and promote positive student, faculty, and staff relations.

Salary: $14.50/hr (up to 20 hrs/week)

Working Hours and Location: Hours are flexible based on tutoring needs and may require evening and Saturday hours. Position will be based on the Daytona Campus but will be asked to tutor on the DeLand, or Deltona campuses; area middle and high schools, or public facilities, as deemed necessary, depending on tutoring demands.

Educational Internship/ Student Service Advisor
TRIO Talent Search Program


Daytona State College is seeking an Educational Internship/ Student Service Advisor position for our TRiO Educational Talent Search program. This position is available through Lyneer Staffing Solutions. Applicants who are hired will not be employees of Daytona State College.

Minimum Qualifications: This position requires the applicant to be a current student or recent graduate of an education or closely related major. Work or class experience in an academic environment including: Teaching, academic counseling, and advising diverse populations of students is preferred. Outstanding moral character and desire to assist students in their pursuit of post-secondary education is required.

Overview: This position will provide the successful candidate with a wide range of experience in secondary and post-secondary education. The candidate will have the opportunity to work with Volusia County middle and high school students in classroom instruction, individual advising and mentoring. The candidate will assist in the implementation and development of an online platform for instruction, tutoring, and student participation in events. The candidate will also learn about US Department of Education Grant procedures and assist in the proper documentation and implementation of Talent Search services.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will instruct Volusia County middle and high school students in a classroom setting. The successful candidate will provide academic, personal, financial, and career counseling in accordance with program services. The successful candidate will work with the Project Director, Educational Coordinator and Advisors to develop Individual Graduation Accountability Plans (IGAP); communicate program requirements and procedures to new and prospective students; mentor select students and provide personal and academic counseling and advising for all program participants. The candidate will support the implementation process of Talent Search's initiatives to ensure successful accomplishment of program goals. The successful candidate will monitor academic progress, document any barriers that would impede success, and ensure student data are properly maintained (student's file and database). This position will assist with many aspects of post-secondary transfer activities, including guidance with college admission application; college scholarship information; academic, career, personal/social financial aid; and transfer counseling. The successful candidate will also assist in workshops, college and university tours in accordance with program guidelines; assist with the implementation of the Summer STEM/Camp Program; and assist in cultural enrichment activities.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: The successful candidate must possess knowledge of business English including spelling and punctuation and be skilled in operations of Microsoft Office and management information system databases for documenting counseling/advising and reporting performance outcomes. Candidate must be able to follow complex directions, handle multiple priorities, solve problems, and be able to act independently to plan, initiate and complete assignments. Candidate must also be able to function effectively in a team environment and have the ability to grasp concepts quickly.

Working Hours: Work hours may vary. Evening and weekend hours are required as needed.

Please note: This position may be based at the Daytona, Deltona, and/or DeLand Campus of Daytona State College, but responsibilities of this position will require travel to area elementary, middle and high schools in Volusia County for student service delivery.

Pay: $12.79 per hour
Up to 20 hours per week

Senior Duplications Specialist
Business Services

Daytona State College is seeking a Senior Duplications Specialist for our Business Services Department. This position is available through Lyneer Staffing Solutions. Applicants who are hired will not be employees of Daytona State College.

Minimum Qualifications: This position requires a High School Diploma or GED. This position also requires at least two years of experience.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will program and complete assigned print/copy production jobs utilizing complex digital duplicating equipment on a daily basis. He or she will complete finishing tasks including paper folding, drilling, cutting, padding, laminating, stapling, and packaging of copy/print jobs. The employee will complete stocking tasks, ensuring sufficient quantities of machine and paper supplies are on hand for assigned projects; and back up other duplicating equipment operator(s) as needed. In addition, the employee will cross-train and assist with Mail Services' functions as needed involving sorting mail, delivery and  pick-up of mail, and special deliveries of college materials to various locations within Volusia and Flagler counties.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Candidate must be well versed in excel and database management and Microsoft Office Suite; experience with web-to-print solutions. He or she must also have a strong attention to detail; the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; and have strong organizational and customer service skills.

Salary:  $9.57 per hour. (Up to 40 hours per week)

Senior Laboratory Technician – Welding
Workforce and Continuing Education


Daytona State College is seeking a Senior Laboratory Technician for our Welding Program in the Workforce and Continuing Education Department This position is available through Lyneer Staffing Solutions. Applicants who are hired will not be employees of Daytona State College.


Minimum Qualifications: This position requires a High School Diploma and College Certificate with emphasis in Welding or closely related field with a minimum of six (6) months experience. An Associate's degree is preferred.


Responsibilities: This position will perform the following essential tasks; Prepare/set up Welding labs for students as requested by faculty; assist faculty and students with the operation of Welding machine, and lab equipment; maintain, repair, and troubleshoot lab equipment for optimal performance; ensure the security of welding labs, lab equipment and classrooms; supervise lab activities to ensure compliance with established Welding lab rules and guidelines; assist faculty in setting up and coordinating test and exams.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: The successful candidate must have the ability to work with faculty and students individually and in groups; exercise good judgment and communicate effectively both orally and written; have strong organizational skills and ability to work in a multi-task environment and maintain positive customer relations; be able to supervise students in a lab environment; must have welding knowledge and skills. Salary: $10.00 per hour (20 hours per week)

Positions are available through Lyneer Staffing Employment Services. Applicants who are hired will not be employees of Daytona State College.  Successful candidates may be considered for possible full-time employment if/when positions become available at Daytona State College.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED; a minimum of one (1) year recent and verifiable commercial building cleaning work experience.  These positions will work a flexible schedule, which includes weekends and/or holidays.  Duties include, but not limited to: cleaning restrooms, classrooms, hallways, common areas; sweep, mop, vacuum floors and carpets; dust window sills and furniture; clean windows; empty trash; and all other duties as assigned.  Direct exposure to indoor and outdoor temperatures, hot and cold; must be able to reach, stoop, push, pull, lift, kneel, twist/move from side-to-side and carry on a reoccurring basis.

Applicants must have own transportation in reporting to work at any specified Daytona State College Campus location.  Must be able to operate a computer to electronically record work hours.

Hourly Wage: $8.17
