Staff Assistant
Enrollment Services/Falcon Center
Deltona Campus

Daytona State College is seeking a Staff Assistant for our Enrollment Services/Falcon Center Department. This position is available through Lyneer Staffing Solutions. Applicants who are hired will not be employees of Daytona State College.

Minimum Qualifications: This position requires a High School Diploma. This position also requires two years of experience. Office administration and customer service experience preferred.

Responsibilities: Responsible for providing comprehensive clerical support for students, parents, and staff on the Daytona Campus. This position is a performance based position and continuous employment is contingent upon the successful achievement of College and Program goals and objectives.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Candidate must have knowledge in the operation and use of office equipment, strong customer services skills, ability to multi-task, exercise good judgment, and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. He or she will exercise strong organizational skills, exhibit an eagerness to learn and be of service, and promote positive student, faculty, and staff relations.

Salary: $9.18 per hour. (Up to 35 hours per week)

Educational Internship/ Coordinator I
TRIO Talent Search Program


Grant-Funded Temporary Position


Daytona State College is seeking an Educational Internship/ Coordinator I position for our TRiO Educational Talent Search program. This position is available through Lyneer Staffing Solutions. Applicants who are hired will not be employees of Daytona State College.

Minimum Qualifications: This position requires the applicant to be a current student or recent graduate of an education or closely related major. Work or class experience in an academic environment including: Teaching, academic counseling, and advising diverse populations of students is preferred. Outstanding moral character and desire to assist students in their pursuit of post-secondary education is required.

Overview: This position will provide the successful candidate with a wide range of experience in secondary and post-secondary education. The candidate will have the opportunity to work with Volusia County middle and high school students in classroom instruction, individual advising and mentoring. The candidate will assist in the implementation and development of an online platform for instruction, tutoring, and student participation in events. The candidate will also learn about US Department of Education Grant procedures and assist in the proper documentation and implementation of Talent Search services.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will instruct Volusia County middle and high school students in a classroom setting. The successful candidate will provide academic, personal, financial, and career counseling in accordance with program services. The successful candidate will work with the Project Director, Educational Coordinator and Advisors to develop Individual Graduation Accountability Plans (IGAP); communicate program requirements and procedures to new and prospective students; mentor select students and provide personal and academic counseling and advising for all program participants. The candidate will support the implementation process of Talent Search's initiatives to ensure successful accomplishment of program goals. The successful candidate will monitor academic progress, document any barriers that would impede success, and ensure student data are properly maintained (student's file and database). This position will assist with many aspects of post-secondary transfer activities, including guidance with college admission application; college scholarship information; academic, career, personal/social financial aid; and transfer counseling. The successful candidate will also assist in planning/facilitating student and parent workshops, college tours; Summer STEM/Camps; and cultural enrichment activities.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: The successful candidate must possess knowledge of business English including spelling and punctuation and be skilled in operations of Microsoft Office and management information system databases for documenting counseling/advising and reporting performance outcomes. Candidate must be able to follow complex directions, handle multiple priorities, solve problems, and be able to act independently to plan, initiate and complete assignments. Candidate must also be able to function effectively in a team environment and have the ability to grasp concepts quickly.

Working Hours: Work hours may vary. Evening and weekend hours are required as needed.

Please note: This position may be based at the Daytona, Deltona, and/or DeLand Campus of Daytona State College, but responsibilities of this position will require travel to area elementary, middle and high schools in Volusia County for student service delivery.

Pay: $14.76 per hour
Up to 30 hours per week

This position is available through Lyneer Staffing Employment Services. Applicants who are hired will not be employees of Daytona State College. Successful candidates may be considered for possible full-time employment if/when positions become available at Daytona State College.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED; a minimum of one (1) year recent and verifiable commercial building cleaning work experience. These positions will work a flexible schedule, which includes weekends and/or holidays. Duties include, but not limited to: cleaning restrooms, classrooms, hallways, common areas; sweep, mop, vacuum floors and carpets; dust window sills and furniture; clean windows; empty trash; and all other duties as assigned. Direct exposure to indoor and outdoor temperatures, hot and cold; must be able to reach, stoop, push, pull, lift, kneel, twist/move from side-to-side and carry on a reoccurring basis.

Applicants must have own transportation in reporting to work at any specified Daytona State College Campus location. Must be able to operate a computer to electronically record work hours.

Hourly Wage: $8.46

Campus Safety Officer
Campus Safety Department

1st, 2nd, and 3rd Shifts Available

Daytona State College is looking for part time Campus Safety Officers for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts. These positions are available through Lyneer-Staffing Employment Services. Applicants who are hired will not be employees of Daytona State College.

Qualifications: This position requires a high school diploma or GED and a minimum of six (6) months related work experience. This position also requires a valid Florida Driver's License. A Florida Class "D" Security License and CPR certification required to be attained within six (6) months from start date.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be responsible for performing routine patrols to provide security coverage and escort services; investigating and reporting accidents, theft, vandalism, and incidents occurring on Daytona State College property; performing building and room lockdowns and open ups; responding to incidents, accidents, and emergencies on the campus and assures the prompt submission of complete and accurate reports. Additionally, this position will be responsible for observing and ensuring resolution of safety hazards; providing directions and information to students and visitors; working dispatch, including answering phones, dispatching calls, and monitoring alarm systems and providing key assists. Officers may be located at Main or Regional Campuses.

Salary: $10.50/hour

Writing Specialist
DSC-UCF Writing Center Search

Daytona State College is seeking a part-time Writing Specialist for our Writing Center. This position is available through Lyneer Staffing Solutions. Applicants who are hired will not be employees of Daytona State College.

Minimum Qualifications:
This position requires a Bachelor's degree in English or related area. Must have (2) years of related work experience tutoring and/or teaching and have strong academic and professional writing skills. The successful candidate must have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to respond to student concerns with empathy, patience and creativity.

Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will provide academic assistance to Daytona State and UCF students. This position requires travel to designated tutoring locations.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
The successful candidate must be able to provide direct writing support to students, faculty, staff, and alumni through one-on-one tutoring and workshops. He or she must maintain records of writing support and assist in the creation and implementation of writing related supplemental materials to be used by Writing Center staff.

Salary:
$15.00 per hour

Hours per week:
25-35 hours

Working Hours:
Part-time

Writing Specialists may be asked to tutor on the Daytona, Flagler/Palm-Coast, DeLand or Deltona campuses, depending on tutoring demands at the different sites.
