Dear Applicant:
Thank you for your recent inquiry or application to the Health Information Management program. We have found it necessary to revise the curriculum to better prepare you for your career. Effective Fall 2011 the program will become a 2 year Associate of Science (AS) Degree with an option of receiving a certificate in Medical Information Coder/Biller a 3-semester College Credit Certificate.
Please note that Medical Terminology (HSC1531) is still a prerequisite to the program. If you are interested in entering the program you will need to have successfully completed HSC 1531 (Medical Terminology) with a grade of “C” or better. You will need to be eligible to take College Composition I (ENC 1101) and Intermediate Algebra (MAT 1033). In addition to the degree change, there is a new mathematics requirement for program completion; either of the following can be taken: College Algebra (MAC1105) or College Mathematics (MGF2106) or Liberal Arts Mathematics (MGF2107).
The tentative schedule for the program will be as follows:
Spring Semester – Monday & Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Summer A Semester – Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Fall Semester – Monday & Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

NOTE: Be advised that effective in the Fall of 2011, Daytona State College will be changing the degree obtained with this program from an AAS to an AS degree. Students applying at this time will be required to take and pass a college level math in order to satisfy the degree requirements with the college. College level math classes include one of the following: College Algebra (MAC1105), College Math (MGF2106), Liberal Arts Math (MGF2107), or Statistics (STA2023).
