March 24, 2015 – Ocala FL:  The Daytona State Lady Falcons finished 2nd at the 2015 MSU Ocala Spring Invitational hosted by Morehead State University at Juliette Falls Golf Course.  The Falcons posted scores of 305-291-304 (900) and finished 1 stroke behind tournament winner South Dakota State who posted scores of 297-300-302 (899).  The Falcons finished 2 strokes ahead of 3rd place teams Murray State, Western Kentucky and South Alabama all who posted 902 for team totals. 

Sophomore standout Tiffany Chan won the event by 3 strokes with scores of 72-72-67 over 2nd place finisher Sydney MacDonald from South Dakota State who posted rounds of 73-73-68.  Chan’s individual title is her 5th win of the season.  She is currently ranked 16th in the World Amateur Rankings and has a 70 scoring average.

“This was a solid win for Tiffany.  She really found her game during the final round and posted her low round of the spring season of 67 which included 1 eagle and 3 birdies,” commented Coach Laura Brown.  I’m really happy for her and I think she found the confidence she has been searching for with her putting over the last few events during the final round and I think that made a huge difference for her.”

Other finishers for the Lady Falcons include freshman Ji Sun Kang who lead the event after the first 2 rounds finishing in 5th place with scores of 69-72-79, freshman Michelle Hawkins who finished tied for 51st  with scores of 84-74-76, sophomore Whitney Stevenson who finished tied for 63rd  with scores of 81-73-83, freshman Kathleen Duperval who tied for 70th with scores of 83-79-78, and sophomore Courtney Cobb who finished tied for 81st  with scores of 83-80-82.

The Lady Falcons return to competition March 30-31 when they travel to Ponte Vedra Beach, FL to compete in the Invitational hosted by Jacksonville University.
