Training

All full-time and adjunct faculty members must receive adequate training to use Falcon Online, including both technical and pedagogical skills.

D2L101: Introduction to Falcon Online

  • Provides basic learning management system instruction.
  • D2L101 is only offered online (2 hours total depending on your time management and existing computer skills).
  • All online assignments and assessments for this workshop must be verified as successful before a certificate of completion will be issued.
  • All faculty are required to complete D2L101.

D2L101 Resources:

  • Uploading a Syllabus:
    • Creating Modules and Topics: Need help creating modules on Falcon Online? This guide will show faculty step-by-step how to create a module, or a separate section, in Falcon Online under the "Content" portion of a course. This guide will also show faculty how to easily upload files into the "Content" portion of a course on Falcon Online.
  • Using the Grade Book:
    • Setup: This general guide will assist faculty in setting up a grade book for the first time in Falcon Online.
    • Creating Categories and Items: This guide will show faculty how to assign grade percentage weights for individual grade categories (e.g. Homework, Quizzes, Discussions, etc.) and how to itemize and set up specific assignments within a grade book (e.g. Homework #1, Homework #2, Homework #3, etc.).

D2L102: Advanced Falcon Online and Online Pedagogy

  • D2L102 can be taken upon successful completion of D2L101.
  • It builds on the skills learned in D2L101.
  • D2L102 is only offered online (4 hours total).
  • All online assignments and assessments for this workshop must be verified as successful before a certificate of completion will be issued.
  • All faculty teaching hybrid and/or online courses are required to complete D2L102.
