Issue/Opportunity – The E-Text device will need to have the ability to connect to some internet capable network or system to provide the student access to the interactive e-text and sync off-line and on-line copies of their e-text.
Topic and Potential Actions – Investigate the bandwidth demand, architecture, cost, availability and capabilities of various internet access solutions and recommend that solution which best serves the needs of the student and resources available to the College.
Necessity for formal RFP, RFI or Bid – The Connectivity Sub-Committee must determine if it recommends that the College seek formal responses (RFP, RFI, Bid, etc.) from the providers of internet connectivity services.
Implementation Timing and Critical Path - Other Issue/Opportunity that need to be resolved prior to or in conjunction with: Deployment issues, Hardware/Device issues, E-Reader Platform issues, Printing issues and Server/Storage/Could issues.
Status - The connectivity research has been limited. The College conducted informal meeting with a few internet providers who are most interested in becoming involved with the E-Text Project.
