Issue/Opportunity – The College bookstore has been managed by Follett Higher Education Group for a number of years and has provided a valuable service to the College and its students. At the inception of the E-text project, Follett was made aware of the College’s intent to replace printed text books with e-texts. The College is on a year to year contract with Follett and must determine what services, if any, will be needed by a bookstore purveyor in the future.

Topic and Potential Actions – Investigate and determine the terms and conditions of the existing Follett bookstore contract and recommend the changes (or elimination) of this contractual arrangement, both in the short-term E-Text implementation phase and long-term permanent E-Text environment. The Bookstore Sub-Committee should coordinate with the Deployment Sub-Committee and Printing Sub-Committee in making its determinations.

Necessity for formal RFP, RFI or Bid – The Bookstore Sub-Committee must determine if it recommends that the College seek formal responses (RFP, RFI, Bid, etc.) from the providers of these E-Text related services.

Implementation Timing and Critical Path – Other Issue/Opportunity that need to be resolved prior to or in conjunction with: Deployment issues and Printing issues.

Status – The Bookstore future has been discussed with Follett, but, must be thoroughly reviewed to determine the phasing or steps necessary to eliminate the traditional hardback text book bookstore and/or convert this service/function to an E-Text environment.
