Both Daytona State College and University of Central Florida offer a wide variety of online and hybrid classes. For students taking these classes, the DSC-UCF Writing Center offers virtual tutoring consultations delivered through web conferencing software. Students will need to have an electronic copy of any assignment prompt or piece of writing they want to work on for that appointment.
Students who are unable to make it to one of our locations are also able to consult one-on-one with a Writing Specialist in a virtual session. Similarly, students can use this service if the regional campus they normally attend is closed, and can set up an online appointment with the Writing Center from that regional campus' Academic Support Center.
Virtual sessions last 45 minutes and will be initiated through an email link sent to the student soon after the appointment is booked. Students should take some time to load the software and make sure their microphone and speakers/ headphones are working prior to their appointment time. Because virtual appointments are designed to be as close to in-person sessions as possible, we do not email suggestions or provide asynchronous tutoring; we want students to be part of the process.
