ARE YOU INTERESTED IN BECOMING AN OFFICER OF THE CEA
The time has come to elect officers for the next fiscal year to represent the Career Employee Association here at Daytona State College. Who would you like to represent the growing organization which stand for you and your best interests? The selection process will begin immediately and the elected officers will assume their positions July 1,2010 and remain in office until elections are held the following fiscal year. The Career Employee Association of Daytona State College is in need of officers with fresh ideas and enthusiasm!
Currently we are searching to fill the following positions: President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary. To be eligible for these positions one must be a critical thinker, willing and able to take the initiative to lead before a group. Also qualified candidates should have abilities to flex schedules, attend meetings and school wide events both on and off campus, including but not limited to Constituent Head meetings, Planning Council meetings, monthly CEA meetings, Chili Cook-off, and etc. Individuals willing and able to serve must be committed to the obligations and duties of the position. Candidates should also demonstrate effective communication skills. If you have the desire to become a true leader within our well-respected institution, please identify yourself and the role in which you wish to serve. Career employees may also nominate candidates. Nominated candidates will be notified by a current officer and asked to run. The elections will take place the week of May 24-28, and results will be posted and discussed at the last monthly meeting for the fiscal year (June 29, 2010). This is your chance to make a difference!
The terms of the current President and Vice President will come to an end June 30th 2010. Thomas Moore and Martin Goldys will, however, continue to be active members of this organization. These two individuals have been serving as substitutes with the promotion of our past president, Hector Valle. As a result of the shifting in positions, both Mr. Moore and Mr. Goldys were approached and asked to temporarily serve until more candidates stepped forward to fill the positions. These individuals respectfully assumed the positions of President and Vice president of Daytona State College CEA as unelected officers. Several approaches and efforts to recruit CEA officers have been made over the past 2 ½ years, but with little result. The accomplishments of the CEA of Daytona State College rely and depend on the support displayed by those who represent the organization and what it stands for.

On that note we invite you to attend our next monthly DSC CEA meeting which will be held on Tuesday, April 27, 2010, at 3:00pm. The location remains the same, Building 340, Room 217.
