Phase 1: Choose your future
During your first term, visit Career Services on your campus to develop an initial career plan. If you are not sure of your major, explore career options and find the best way to make this very important decision. Look at the costs and the benefits of committing to a particular career path. Set long-term and short-term goals that match the vision you have for your life. Learn how to make effective decisions. Use this information to choose the best path for you.
Phase 2: Prepare for you future
As you move through your program of study, use Career Services research tools to learn about the typical path that people follow to be successful in your chosen career. Read Vocational Biographies. Locate possible employers to interview. Begin to develop a network of support that can help you move smoothly toward your career goal. Develop your Career Portfolio. Attend a Job Fair. Find a mentor in your chosen line of work.
Phase 3: Prepare for the launch
Take advantage of Career Services workshops to groom yourself for your profession. Arrange to get an internship to learn about the real world application of your skills. Conduct research interviews with prospective employers that you locate through our online database, Reference USA. Build your resume. Learn about options for advanced education in your chosen profession. See how far you can advance in your career through careful planning and preparation.
Phase 4: Launching: Closing the deal as you approach graduation
As you approach graduation in the last term of your degree, use your network to locate prospective employers. Arrange for letters of recommendations. Learn how do conduct a good job search.
