Daytona State College is the parent organization of the Southeast Museum of Photography (SMP), one of the largest photography museums in the nation and one of fewer than 13 such museums in the country. SMP presents more than 12 exhibitions annually, organized around such interdisciplinary themes as "Women’s Worlds”, "Time and Space" and "Behind The News." SMP is very involved with academic and community programs at our College. Since its opening in April 1992, the Museum has mounted more than 300 exhibitions and produced more than 40 catalogues and publications. Each semester, the Museum presents films, lectures, seminars, workshops, professional classes and talks. The museum's education division produces academic support materials for a wide range of college and high school classes in conjunction with each new series of exhibitions. Public programs feature internationally known photographers, critics, writers and scholars. The Museum offers Daytona State students extensive opportunities for internships and professional training, as well as paid and volunteer employment.
