Graduation Requirements and Procedures

Daytona State awards the bachelors of applied science, bachelors of science in education, associate of arts degree, associate of applied science degree, associate of science degree and certificate to students who:

1. Meet both the general education requirements, with a "C" average and specific requirements of their program.

2. Earn a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA in all courses taken at Daytona State and earn a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA for courses taken at Daytona State plus courses transferred from other institutions. Students are allowed to transfer courses prior to starting their Daytona State program, as well as, transfer back courses after they leave in order to graduate from Daytona State . Students enrolled in certificate programs must earn an average GPA of 2.0 in their program-specific certificate courses in order to be eligible for graduation.

3. Fulfill the College Level Academic Skills Test (CLAST) requirements, if applicable.

4. Complete at least 25 percent of the degree requirement credits in residence at Daytona State .

5. Satisfy the foreign language requirement for AA, BAS, and BSE degree candidates.

6. Submit an application for graduation and pay appropriate graduation fees. The fee will entitle the graduate to a diploma, if qualified, and to participate in the commencement ceremonies. Daytona State reserves the right to certify students as a completer once he or she has completed all requirements for the degree or certificate, regardless if they have completed an application for graduation. Students who do not complete the graduation application process will not receive a diploma or have the degree or certificate earned statement on their official transcript

7. Students not meeting graduation requirements for term/semester applied under will need to reapply and pay another $25.00 processing fee for new term/ semester applying under.

8. Fulfill all financial and other obligations to the College before receiving their degree or certificate.

Students are responsible for determining if they have fulfilled graduation requirements. A Degree Audit is available for students on Falconet online student services. We encourage all students to run a degree audit before applying for graduation.

Commencement ceremonies for degree, certificate and adult education candidates are held in May. Students who complete graduation requirements in the Fall and/or Spring Semester, or have applied early for graduation for Summer Semester, are encouraged to participate in commencement ceremonies.
