Associate of Arts Degree:
Psychology and Areas of Specialization Certification

Daytona State College offers students who have declared Psychology as their major program code the opportunity to specialize in one of four different applied areas.  These students can receive specialization certification in Marriage & Family (Relational) Psychology, Experimental & Research Psychology, Clinical & Counseling Psychology, and Developmental Psychology.  Specialized certification in Psychology will better prepare students for transfer into baccalaureate programs, and should be considered by all students who plan to major in Psychology at the baccalaureate level.  Students who want to receive a specialization certification must complete nine semester hours of specific coursework in Psychology after successful completion of Introduction to Psychology (PSY1012).  Students who are interested in a Psychology specialization should meet with an academic advisor early in their tenure at Daytona State College to establish an academic plan that will ensure that all program requirements will be met.  For more information on this program, students may also contact the department chair, Dr. Job Clement, at (386) 506-3403, or the department assistant chair, Dr. Ron Morrison, at (386) 506-3918.
