
General Information
Career assessments are tests used to measure talents and temperaments in areas of personality, interests, skills and values. Accurate assessment of these traits can assist an individual in forming a realistic plan to achieve maximum satisfaction in future career choices. The following career assessments are available either on-line, or in the Career Services Center located on each Daytona State campus.

Personality Assessments
Myers-Briggs Type Indicator
The MBTI is “the most widely used instrument for understanding normal personality differences.” It is used for a variety of purposes because it provides a framework for including your natural talents and temperament.
Myers-Briggs Type Indicator Career
The Myers Briggs Type Indicator Career Assessment Test can help you choose, change or develop your career, or help you decide on a college major. This assessment helps to make important career decisions, and gain valuable insight about yourself and the people you interact with daily.

Interest Assessments
CHOICES (Interest)
Users determine their interests through a 144-item checklist. The results are analyzed by the CHOICES program and assist users in searching for occupations that are compatible with their interests.
Self-Directed Search
Helps you to find careers or educational programs that match your own skills and interests.
Strong Interest Inventory
This test is designed to compare your current interest pattern with people who are successfully employed in different occupations. It will indicate those careers where you will find people who have interests similar to yours.

Skills Assessments
CHOICES (Skills)
Skills are grouped into 25 clusters. The results are analyzed by the CHOICES program and assist users in searching for occupations that are compatible with their skills.
Career Ability Placement Survey (CAPS)
An aptitude type of test which gives you a prediction of success in some general career fields.
Values Assessments
CHOICES (Work Values Sorter)
The Work Importance Locator can help you learn more about your work values and can help you decide what is important to you in a job. It does this by asking you to rank different aspects of work that represent six important work values. Knowing your work values can help you decide what kinds of jobs and careers you might want to explore.
