STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Community Scholars Program is a quality-driven program at Daytona State College designed to adapt and implement a series of best practices for recruitment and retention of students in STEM Associate of Arts and Associate of Science programs to expand the talent entering and completing STEM degree programs.
The program is designed to help students in STEM programs overcome various barriers to success by providing them with:
- Focused, specific, and personalized advising regarding STEM academic programs
- Tools to empower students to develop an Individual Learning Plan
- Workshops to assist students in building effective resumes, interview techniques, and resources to apply to four-year programs
- Interaction with peers, professionals and faculty at Daytona State College, as well as alumni for networking, job seeking, and advice
- Financial assistance and advice regarding scholarships, stipends, and book vouchers
- Transfer assistance, including essay writing tips, help filling out university applications and meeting other application requirements
- Continual encouragement, support and resources to guide students through completion of their STEM-related program of study in the Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree at Daytona State College
